  Prompt Response:   My experience in AP Language has been going well so far. I have been improving at understanding different types of writing and identifying rhetorical strategies. One challenge for me has been making my answers detailed enough and explaining my ideas clearly. Sometimes I know what I want to say, but I have trouble putting it into words.   Prompt Response:   One time I told my friend that I thought studying before a test would help me get a better grade. My friend asked me, “How do you know?” I explained that whenever I studied and reviewed my notes before a test, I felt more prepared and usually understood the questions better. My evidence was based on my own experience from previous tests. I used this evidence because it showed a connection between studying and feeling more confident during tests. Explaining my evidence was important because simply saying that studying helps does not prove my claim. By explaining how my experiences supported my opinion, my friend could understand why I believed my claim was true. This taught me that evidence is more useful when you explain how it connects to your claim. Summary:absent Reflection:  absent

  Prompt Response:  I enjoy hands-on activities the most because I learn better when I can actually do something instead of only reading about it.Hands on activities make class more interesting and help me understand the lesson better.I also like working with classmates during hands on activities because we can share ideas and help each other.Hands on activities allow students to learn by doing and practicing what they are taught.They make me more involved in the lesson rather than just sitting and listening for a long time. Summary:Today in class we kept practicing on doing claims and types of evidence like observations,experiences and readings. Reflection:  Today in class I learned that first we do 5 claims but they don't have to be that specific.The evidence is the most specific.

 prompt-One thing I will never fully understand is why people change over time. Sometimes someone can be very close to you, but then they start acting differently without explaining why. I think people change because of their experiences, feelings, and the things happening in their lives. Even when someone explains their reasons, I may still not completely understand what they are feeling. This has taught me that I cannot always expect to know what is going on in someone else’s mind. I also learned that people can change in ways that are unexpected. Instead of always looking for an answer, I should accept that some things are difficult to understand.   Prompt Response:  One thing that makes me different from other people is my personality.I am outgoing and I enjoy making people laugh and feel comfortable.I can be a shy person but when I'm with people I'm comfortable with I be laughing at my own jokes.My creativity helps me think of different ideas and solve problems in my own way.I have my own interest and goals that make me unique.Like for example my goal is to travel the world and invest money on companies so that I can make more money and then be a dentist.The main thing that makes me different from others is my personality. Summary:Today in class we watched clips of movies and identified the rethorical choice they used most effectively. Reflection:   I learned how to tell on clips the rethorical choice they used because it can seem like is pathos because it might show emotion to us but it mostly how the audience feels or it they were moved by emotion.I can use this so I can prove my point in an argument .

  Prompt Response:  The most creative thing I have ever made is a set of custom lash extensions.I started learning how to do lashes because I wanted to create something that showed my skills and creativity.I enjoyed using different lengths and styles to create a look that was unique.I had to be patient and pay attention while working on each lash.at first it was challenging because it was hard to stick the lashes but after practicing every day I become good and confident.The experience showed me that it takes patience even to be creative so it can come out good. Summary: Today in class we learned about SPACECAT which is just about the speaker, purpose,audience,context,exigence,choices,appeals,tone. Reflection: I learned how to identify SPACECAT in a text or video just by what the speaker Is saying.This will help me because I can agree or disagree with the speaker and to identify the importance.

  Prompt Response:  One time I felt completely lost was on my first day at a new school.I did not know where my classes were,and the hallways were crowded with students.I looked at my schedule several times,but I still couldn't figure out where I was.I started getting nervous because the bell was about to ring and I didn't want to be late.I finally asked one of the students walking and she pointed at the right direction.Even though I felt embarrassed to be lost it made it way easier to ask for help. Summary: Today in class we did a worksheet on identifying claims.We read a passage and identified which claim is for each category and what type is it. Reflection:  I learned how to identity claims in passages.I could use this when im reading something to see what they want to argue about.

  Prompt Response:  When I was a child,I believed that the Tooth Fairy was real.Whenever I lost a tooth, I would put it under my pillow before going to sleep.I believed that the Tooth Fairy would come into my room while I was asleep and that she would leave money under my pillow.I would get excited the next morning and check under my pillow to see what she left.I never questioned how she could visit so many children in one night.As I got older I realized the Tooth fairy was my parents. Summary: Today in class we learned about three different types of claims, which are claim of fact,claim of value ,and claim of policy. Reflection:  In class we learned what each of the claims mean and how a claim has to state a position that some people might disagree.I will use this because while having an argument the right claim is needed.

 Prompt response:One argument I could have handled differently was a disagreement I had with a friend about making plans.We both wanted things to go our own way.My goal was to get my friend to understand why I thought my idea was better, but I focused too much on proving that I was right.Chapter one said that you should not try to outscore your opponent, but instead try to get your way.I could have stayed calm and listened to my friend's point of view before explaining mine or create an agreement that worked for both of us.A good argument is not by proving someone wrong but by reaching your goal. summary-In class today we read a book about having a good argument and different ways of wining one. reflection:Today I learned that you don't have to always prove your point but try and get It your way .I will use this by when trying to win an argument first listening to the other person and not trying to prove my point but instead winning points to persuade the other person.

prompt response: I tried to persuade my friend to come to a concert with me because I didn't want to go alone.I told her we were gonna have so much fun together .I used Pathos by telling my friend I was going to be sad and alone if I had to go by myself.I used Logos to explain that the event was not that far away and it would only be at night so it wouldn't take up the whole day.I used Ethos by showing that I was being honest and I wouldn't pressure them if they didn't wanna go but at the same time making sure they remembered all the times we had fun together.My goal was to make my friend feel comfortable while giving them a good reason to come.Pathos was the most effective appeal because my friend cared how I felt and she wanted to go with me so I wouldn't be alone. summary: Today in class we all presented what our names meant and we did a review about logos pathos and ethos.  prompt:As I grow older I think I have to stand up for my future goals and choices I make for my life.Sometime family or friends can have different ideas about what career I should choose.I believe I should decide what career to choose based on my interest and strengths.There may be times when people doubt my decisions and goals, but instead of letting their opinion discourage me I will do what I want.I will also debate weather my goals are good for my future so I can have a successful and happy future. summary:Today in class we took notes on Argument and we talked about examples on Logos, Pathos, and Ethos. Reflection:I learned on how to use the Rhetorical triangle so I can make a effective argument. This impacted me because I can use this knowledge so I can prove my point effectively by using the Logos,Pathos,and Ethos.

I want to accomplish three goals this year.First, I want to have all straight A's by staying organized,completing all my assignments on time,and studying for test and quizzes.Second, I want to become more involved in school by joining clubs and doing community service hours for the school.Lastly, I want to manage my time more wisely so I can stay on track of my school work and my responsibilities out of school. These goals will help me become better as a student and person.
